Amgklung Orchestra in Concert IX “Angklung: The Musicals”

Presented by Keluarga Paduan Angklung SMA Negeri 3 Bandung (KPA3), one of Indonesia’s leading angklung groups, on one of their annual concert programs titled Konser Orkestrasi Angklung (Angklung Orchestra in Concert). The concert will be held in Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore on 17th July 2011  at 7:30 PM

This year’s program will present various signature show-tunes from notable musicals: from classical West Side Story, ever-popular The Sound of Music, romantic Phantom of the Opera, to colorful The Lion King, sultry Chicago, and modern work such as Rent, Billy Elliot, and Wicked, this concert will bring a spectacular musical stage with one of Indonesia’s iconic instruments, Angklung. A performance you truly cannot miss.

KPA3 is a student-based organization with a notable reputation as one of Indonesia’s leading angklung groups. With it’s distinctive program and versatile repertoire, mostly known as being progressive, innovative and creative, KPA3 has attained numerous achievements and acclamations, both national and international scope, with the latest as Special Award Winner at Summa Cum Laude Festival 2010 in Vienna, Austria as well as having a performance in Golden Hall Musikverein (being the first Indonesian traditional group to ever perform there). Our regular concert has become one of Indonesia’s barometer on angklung development, introducing inventions to angklung performance and repertoires.
